ICC and EPCH Participate in 27th Index International Design Exhibition Dubai

India’s total exports to UAE stood at US 30,290.01 million during 2015-16. India’s total imports from UAE amounted to US 19,445.68 million (as per data from commerce.gov.in). Share of UAE in India’s total exports was 11.5% during 2015-16. UAE was the third largest trading partner of India as far as India’s total exports to the world are concerned during 2015-16. UAE is already the largest trading partner of India in West Asia and the two countries have now decided to form a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Indian Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata, and Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, New Delhi, jointly mobilized Indian Exhibitors to 27th Index International Design Exhibition held from 22nd – 25th May, 2017 in Dubai world Trade Centre, UAE.

Indian companies exhibited items related to building and home interior, designing, flooring, covering, display, lifestyle and a variety of other items.

This event, A global gathering of innovative design was attended by 34,496, visitors; representatives from 110 countries and 2,871 buyers and VIPs. It generated new business to the tune of US$ 5.5 billion. The feedback received reveals that 75% of the visitors rated this Index Exhibition important for their business while 70% were keen to visit this exhibition next year.
UAE and adjoining markets have already immense potential and are extremely important for Indian exporters of building materials, construction items and home interiors. UAE market attaches great potential and importance keeping in line with EXPO 2020 would be held in Dubai. Indian participation in this exhibition for next three consecutive years would help increasing the export to UAE.

Ms. Susmmita Das (Biswas), Deputy Director & Head – Foreign Trade, Indian Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata, and her team designed an attractive Indian Pavilion for Indian exhibitors and also helped each of them in displaying their products in the best manner. Ms. Geetha Nair, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, GoI, who visited the exhibition, appreciated the attractive display of Indian exhibits. The Indian exhibitors were also delighted by the visit of Mr. Vipul, Consul General of India in U.A.E. to the Indian Pavilion as also to all the stalls. He also sought suggestions from the Indian exhibitors for increasing export of Indian products to UAE.
