33RD EDITION OF INDIA CARPET EXPO
The 33rd edition of India Carpet Expo organised by Carpet Export Promotion Council with an aim to promote the Cultural Heritage and showcase the weaving skills hand-knotted Carpets artisans amongst the overseas hand-knotted carpet buyers resulted in success once again and the Council has already started preparations for the next India Carpet Expo to be held next October in Varanasi.

The Indian Carpets are renowned all over the world for their exquisite colors and workmanship. The brand ‘Indian Carpets’ is unique in the world. The spectacular fineness of Indian Carpets, the intricacy of their designs, splendor in color combinations and the diversity of options have all contributed a lot in achieving number one position in the world market as reliable manufacturer and exporter of handmade carpets. The underlying strength of the Indian Industry rests on its weavers, renowned for their adaptability and skill weaving out myriad designs of different knottages & qualities.

Indian carpet industry offers to International market all kinds of handmade carpets and rugs. Each carpet in itself is an art of high quality craftsmanship. Essentially Indian motifs based on interpretations of figures of birds like peacock and swans, the lotus flower, Indian temples and Indian mythology are now being introduced in high end carpets and no other country can match the variety that India offers to its International clientele.
The Indian Handmade carpet Industry, is age old and has made significant strides in the recent past. The Industry is highly labor intensive and provides employment to about 2 million workers directly and indirectly in the rural areas especially women in their homes. There is still immense potential for growth of production and exports as the Industry is spread all over India. The Industry provides extra and alternate occupation to the farmers and others homes.

Carpet Export Promotion Council organised 33rd Edition of India Carpet Expo from 27th to 30th March, 2017 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi with an aim to promote the Cultural Heritage and showcase the weaving skills of Indian hand-knotted carpet artisans amongst the overseas hand-knotted carpet buyers.

The Carpet Export Promotion Council showcased the products of more than 305 reputed small, medium and large manufacturer exporters from all over country. It is the endeavor of the Council to provide exclusive business environment to both, the carpet importers as well as manufacturer-exporters, which ultimately will benefit about two million weavers and artisans employed in this highly labour intensive rural based MSME cottage industry.

Since its inception three decades ago, just over 30 editions, this trade show has grown almost 100 times in area, two hundred times in terms of number of exhibitors and fifty and half times in terms of visitor- all indicating its growing popularity and impact on business of exhibitors and visitors.
